JNU Election Committee has always been an incredible institution that protected the democratic values inside the JNU campus under the constant attack from the Admin. It is very shameful that EC is yet to get around Rs 1 lakh from for the conduct of JNUSU ‘19 Elections. The responsibility of all JNUites to protect this institution which has maintained integrity.

In this regard, with great hope, EC members have also talked and discussed in detail about the financial issue with JNUSU. Sadly, same as admin, they have also not responded very positively. It feels sad and gives a sense of dissatisfaction that EC, which gives its selfless service for constituting elected students’ body does not pay heed to its issue. The JNUSU President Aishe Gosh replied on a Facebook post to JNUSU Councillor, Vishnu Prasad K from NSUI that she was eating peanuts an entire year. This arrogant comment in an irresponsible way from the JNUSU President to a genuine issue raised by the fellow Councillor is unbecoming of a responsible representative of a student’s union.

Another EC member opined that the Election Committee has not received much help from the JNUSU in this issue of pending money from the Admin. She appealed to everyone to come forward and extend help.

For the last one-year JNUSU is not seriously taking up the issue NSUI and common students will contribute money to pay the debt of EC members as the Election Committee members have fought really hard to protect the democratic space inside the campus, said Vishnu Prasad K.

In this tough time due to the ongoing pandemic, everyone is facing economic hardship. Under such circumstances, vendors are also asking for their pending amount which EC members are unable to pay it in their personal capacity. Complete one year has passed after elections and thus, vendors are not in a position to wait anymore for their due amount. There constant calls for the said amount is building pressure over EC Members due to which they are in a helpless situation with great stress.
