B'luru Metro to deboard non-compliant passengers: Official

Bengaluru, Sep 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) In the event of unmanageable crowds and non-compliance with Covid-19 guidelines and health protocols for travel, the Bengaluru Metro can cut short its service and forcibly deboard erring passengers, an official warned on Monday.

"If required, we can deboard the passengers and stop the service if they don't follow the standard operating procedures," a Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) official told IANS.

However, the official said that no incident of Metro train not halting at any station had been reported due to non-maintenance of social distance by passengers.

One of the conditions for the trains to halt at a Metro station is social distancing by passengers on the platform.

"Basically, the main precautions include wearing of masks, social distancing, hygiene, and body temperature checks," the official pointed out.

The Bengaluru Metro resumed services at 8 am on the Purple Line from Baiyappanahalli and will continue to do so on more routes in phases from Monday onwards under the new guidelines to contain the pandemic.

A 6-coach train departed from Baiyappanahalli. The Metro will make 91 trips on Monday, to begin with, between 8 am and 11 am as well as 4.30 pm and 7.30 pm.
