Barpeta: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal during his visit to the embankment of Pahumara River which was breached at Gahinpara in Barpeta district due to floods followed by incessant rains, on July 20, 2020. The flood situation in Assam further improved on Monday, even though one more person's death was reported in Kamrup (Metro) district, taking the death toll due to the deluge in the state to 85, while around 24.30 lakh people in 24 of the 33 districts continue to be distressed.
