New Delhi, July 17 (SocialNews.XYZ) The unit of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will be launching an online programme from Saturday to enhance language skills.
The two-month programme 'Bhasha Sangam' will be available free of cost to all, said Ashutosh Singh national media in-charge of the ABVP.
The programme will teach the basics of over fifteen foreign and Indian languages to the enrollers. The participants will be taught basics of German, Persian, Korean, Spanish, Telugu, Malayalam, Manipuri, among other languages.
The classes will be conducted via Google Classroom, an application by the Google, from Friday to Saturday every week of the course's duration.
Shivam Chaurasia, president of the JNU's ABVP unit, informed that around fifty mentors from JNU and other universities will teach the languages to the participants of the programme.
"Our JNU is famous for language courses. The research scholars from JNU and teachers from other universities like North-East Hill University in Shillong, Hyderabad Central University and different colleges would mentor the participants, " he said.
So far, more than a thousand registrations have received for the programme. However, the organisers have not put any cap on the number of participants. "We want maximum people to get benefit from the programme, " Singh said.
Chaurasia said that the programme is for everyone. From a student to a homemaker, anybody can register for it.
"It aims to break the barrier of communication. Many times, students who register for scholarships in universities of foreign countries are asked to have proficiency in one of the native languages of those countries. Learning a foreign language will make them more eligible for such opportunities, " he said.
"Besides, another benefit of this programme is it would mitigate communication problem occurs locally. If one travels to the North-East and Southern part of India, the languages spoken there would be easy to comprehend, and it will help in communicating the locals more efficiently," Chaurasia added.
At the end of the course, a certificate would be provided to the enrollers with a grade. "The grading would be done based on the performance of the participants. The mentors assess the performance every week through assignments, " Chaurasia said.
