Amaravati, June 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) Andhra Pradesh's ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Wednesday issued a show cause notice to its MP K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju for criticising the government and defying the party line over various issues.
The party has given seven days to the Lok Sabha member from Narsapuram to give his explanation.
YSRCP National General Secretary V. Vijaya Sai Reddy wrote to Raju that if he failed to respond or if the response was not found satisfactory, the party would initiate further action.
The show cause notice referred to the statements made by Raju criticizing his own party and the government. Copies of the reports appeared in some Telugu dailies about his statements criticizing the government and the party, were also enclosed with the notice.
"In recent times, you have shown your disinclination to being a primary member of the party which is discernible from various statements made by you on many party and governmental programmes and you have publicly adopted a stand discordant with the YSRCP party line," reads the show cause notice.
The notice pointed out that he criticized the government's move to introduce English medium schools in the government sector. In one of the statements, Raju alleged that the YSRCP MLAs are resorting to looting of sand.
The show cause notice referred to another statement in which he remarked that he doesn't owe his electoral victory to YSRCP or Jaganmohan Reddy and that he would have won elections from any other party. "This clearly indicates your resolve to move away and disassociate from the party," it said.
The letter also mentioned that in various debates on TV shows the MP criticized the decision of the government and the party for creating three capitals.
It was pointed out that in one debate the MP likened himself to a lion who can defy the party and dubbed the other party legislators as pigs.
Raju last week wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker seeking Central protection, alleging that he faces threat to his life from his own party leaders.
Meanwhile, responding to the show-cause notice, the MP said he did not say anything belittling the party or the party president. He claimed that he merely made some suggestions as the government schemes are not being implemented properly at some places.
Raju said since he did not get the chief minister's appointment, he voiced his opinion before the media. He said he would send a reply to the show-cause notice on Thursday.
