Defender Bardsley agrees to new contract at Burnley

London, June 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) Defender Phil Bardsley has signed a new contract to extend his stay at English Premier League side Burnley for a further year, the club said in a statement on Wednesday.

"Bardsley has agreed terms on an extension to make him available for the remainder of the current campaign and the 2020/21 season," the statement on their website, burnleyfootballclub.com, read.

The 34-year old Scottish Bardsley joined the side from Stoke City in July, 2017 and has since made 53 appearances for the club.

Meanwhile, England goalkeeper Joe Hart, Adam Legzdins and winger Aaron Lennon are set to leave after reaching the end of their contracts, the statement further said.

Also, midfielder Jeff Hendrick will leave Turf Moor to end his four-year stay with Burnley after the club was unable to agree terms on a new deal with the Republic of Ireland international.

The 33-year-old Hart joined the team from Manchester City in 2018 but has failed to find a first team start in recent times.

Nick Pope is Burnley's current first choice goalkeeper with Northern Ireland's Bailey Peacock-Farrell also among the ranks.

Hart had recently conceded being dropped as No.1 custodian at Manchester City by then new manager Pep Guardiola was the lowest point of his football career.
