ICC shares interesting stat to wish Labuschagne on birthday

New Delhi, June 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne turned 26 on Monday and the International Cricket Council (ICC) wished him on his special day by sharing an interesting statistic on social media.

The right-hander has taken the longest format by storm following his debut in 2018. His consistency has helped him reach third spot in ICC Test rankings, behind only stalwarts Steve Smith and Virat Kohli respectively.

But there is one particular chart where Labuschagne beats everyone in the world and that was unearthed by the ICC. Taking into consideration the time when he made his debut till now, Labuschagne is the highest run-getter in the world.

During this period, Labuschagne has scored 1,459 runs to take the top spot followed by Tom Latham 1,322 and Joe Root 1,320. Smith finds himself eight on the list while Kohli isn't even in the top-10.

ICC's Twitter post read: "Since his debut on October 2018, Marnus Labuschagne has been the most prolific run-scorer in Test cricket. His 1,459 runs have come at at a staggering average of 63.43 from just 14 Tests. Happy Birthday to the young Australian batting star."

Cricket.com.au also wished Labuschagne on their Twitter handle also uploaded a video of him taking a stunning catch: "Marnus Labuschagne turns 26 today. Who remembers his stunning catch as a substitute back in 2014. Happy Birthday @marnus3cricket!"
