Hyderabad, June 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a huge spike in Covid-19 infections, Telangana on Friday reported 499 cases, the highest single-day jump.
This came a day after the state registered 352 cases, which was the steepest hike since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the state. The earlier highest was 269 recorded on Wednesday.
According to the media bulletin released by the Health Department, the state's tally of coronavirus rose to 6,526.
The state also saw three fatalities during the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 198.
Out of the new cases reported on Friday, hotspot Greater Hyderabad accounted for 329 cases. In an indication that the virus is spreading fast outside Greater Hyderabad, 170 cases were reported from 14 other districts. Rangareddy district adjoining Greater Hyderabad registered 129 cases.
Officials said 2,477 tests were conducted since Thursday and out of them, 499 tested positive. With this the number of tests conducted so far rose to 50,569.
After a gap of one day, the Health Department on Friday resumed providing figures relating to the number of tests conducted.
Following the direction of the Telangana High Court, authorities added more information in the media bulletin. The number of government identified hospitals for Covid-19 treatment has been put at 34.
The bulletin contains other details like number of beds, ventilators, ICU, isolation and oxygen support beds and their current status.
It also provided a list of testing centres in the state. There are 10 government labs and 18 private labs to conduct Covid-19 tests.
