Kolkata, June 4 (SocialNews.XYZ) Vincent Hancock, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time Olympian in skeet shooting, on Thursday said he is making the most of this forced break due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is looking forward to hit the range all guns blazing when competitive shooting starts again.
American shooter Hancock was looking forward to competing in Tokyo for another medal this year. But with the health crisis, the 31-year old's Olympic aspirations were put on hold. The Tokyo Games has now been postponed to 2021.
"My training has been a continuation of what I have been doing, I haven't changed anything in training," Hancock said during a webinar on the fifth episode of #ManavRachnaHappyTimes on Zoom platform.
"The last few months I haven't been able to go to a range. Now I am taking time off and it allows me to mentally and physically reset,"he said.
"I am taking advantage of it as much as I can. I shoot a little bit here and there but most part I am taking mental time away from the game. I did that after Rio (Olympics 2016). I took a seven month break and I came back fresh," he added.
Hancock, who won the gold medal in the men's skeet at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing (with a then Olympic record) and 2012 Olympics in London, said he is looking forward to resetting and hitting the shooting range on a high on the other side of this long break.
"I am getting reset and re-motivated and training extremely hard and go out there to compete at the highest level."
On how he takes time off for his family usually throughout the year which is hectic for an elite shooter, he added: "When I come home I want to be husband and father. When I am done at the range, I slow down in the car back home and I try to be normal for my family."
