LFP reaches agreement with broadcaster on Ligue 1 int’l rights

Paris, May 30 (SocialNews.XYZ) The French Professional Football League (LFP) has announced that it has reached an agreement with broadcaster beIN Sports for the payment of Ligue 1 international rights of the curtailed 2019-20 season.

"The LFP Bureau validated an agreement with beIN Sports for the payment of the balance of international rights for Ligue 1 Conforama for the 2019-20 season," the governing body for France's top two divisions said in a statement on Friday, reports Xinhua news agency.

The payment, according to French daily newspaper L'Equipe, is worth 16.5 million euros corresponding to the matches played.

"After the agreement obtained with Canal Plus and beIN Sports concerning domestic audiovisual rights, this decision allows the rights owed by broadcasters to the LFP to be definitively settled for the 2019-20 season."

The French football season was called off on April 30, with Paris Saint-Germain crowned Ligue 1 champions for the third consecutive year.

The LFP has confirmed again that the 2020-21 season will be able to restart in August, with friendly preparation matches in July.

"The LFP is now focused on a resumption of the season allowing the reception of all or part of the public under the sanitary conditions which will be defined with the public authorities," the statement read.
