Telengana resident, who reached Kerala by mistake, dies of Covid

Thiruvananthapuram, May 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said that a Telengana resident, who got into a wrong train along with his family from Rajasthan and arrived here on May 22, passed away.

After arriving here, the man developed coronavirus symptoms and was moved to the hospital, where he died.

The authorities have informed that the body of the 68-year-old man will be cremated here, with all the religious rites.

Vijayan said on Thursday, Kerala recorded the highest number of cases in a day with 84 people found to be coronavirus positive.

"Out of this, 48 people came from within the country and 31 from abroad. As on date, there are 526 active cases in the state and 1,14,305 are under isolation at homes and other places, while 992 are in hospitals. Today there are 86 hot spots, after six more were added," he said.

"As of now there is no community spread, but we cannot say that it will not be there. We have now increased the number of testing to 3,000 every day. Moreover, there are 22 more laboratories that have been cleared by the ICMR to do the swab test. We will conduct tests on those showing influenza-like symptoms also," added Vijayan.

With authorities deciding to enforce lockdown norms very strictly, 3,251 people were fined for not wearing masks and a case was registered against 6 people who had come out of quarantine.
