Chennai, May 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) As many as 646 persons tested positive for coronavirus over the past 24 hours while nine Covid-19 patients lost their lives in Tamil Nadu, the Health Department said.
According to the Health Department, 646 persons tested positive for Coronavirus taking the total tally to 17,728.
Included in the fresh infections are 54 persons from other states and countries.
The state saw the highest number of deaths on Tuesday with nine persons breathing their last and taking to death toll to 127.
A total of 611 Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals in the state taking the total tally to 9,342.
On Tuesday 10,289 samples were tested taking the total to 4.31 lakh. Testing of 556 samples are under process.
The state capital Chennai with its high density of population continued to see the highest number of infections at 509, taking its total tally to 11,640.
The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 1,088.
The total number of active cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 8,256.
