New Delhi, May 15 (SocialNews.XYZ) To meet the water demands in the city, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Friday said that it is installing 254 tube wells across the city, taking the number of tubewells in the city to about 5,000.
The DJB on Friday issued its Summer Action Plan 2020, offering cutting-edge and efficient water and sewerage services to approximately 20 million residents of Delhi.
The Summer Action Plan is prepared keeping in mind to meet the water demand during the summer months, when it is at its peak, the DJB said.
"At least 254 additional tube wells are being installed at various locations in Delhi, making it a total of about 4,910 DJB tube wells, which will help improve water availability in the water deficient areas," the DJB said.
The DJB said it will complete four new underground reservoirs in order to rationalise the distribution of water in Delhi.
"These UGRs at West Kamal Vihar, Sonia Vihar, Mundaka and Mahipalpur will improve the water supply position in the colonies of West and Central Delhi areas," the DJB said.
Also, 155 existing water bodies will be rejuvenated, it added.
"Tenders for 59 water bodies have been announced, out of which work for 22 water bodies has already been awarded," it said.
The DJB added that new lakes are being created with treatment capacity at Dwarka WTP, Timarpur Oxidation Pond, Rohini WWTP, Nilothi WWTP, Pappan Kalan WWTP and Satpula.
