New Delhi, May 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday met officials of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority and discussed suggestions received on lifting of coronavirus lockdown post May 17.

According to an official source, the DDMA discussed a number of suggestions from the public and listed out the ones to be sent to the Central government.

"The Lt. Governor, Chief Minister, and the DDMA had a detailed discussion on the relaxations to be sent to the Centre and to be implemented post May 17," the official said.

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal said he received more than five lakh suggestions from the public for the relaxations in lockdown 4.0, to be implemented from the next week.

Among the relaxations, Kejriwal hinted at opening public transport, markets and complexes, malls and other industries.

The lockdown announced on March 24 was to end on April 14. It was extended to May 3 and later to May 17. The Centre is now having discussions on the picture post May 17.

In the meeting, Baijal also reviewed the health preparedness and relief measures to contain COVID-19.

In a statement, the Raj Niwas said the Lt. Governor appreciated the solidarity of the residents of Delhi during the lockdown period and urged people to imbibe the core mantra advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi -- 'Do Guj Doori' and 'Jaan Bhi Jahan Bhi' and use Arogya Setu App to keep safe.

"The Lt. "The Delhi government has appointed Nodal Officers for each state to coordinate the movement of migrant labourers. Workers housed in the shelters belonging to Bihar, MP and J&K have already been moved to respective states. Out of over 12,000 migrant labourers in shelters, over 3,500 have moved and safely reached their homes. DDMA is collecting information of the distressed, stranded people of other states in Delhi. So far, over 60,000 people have registered on this portal," the Raj Niwas said in the statement.

For the movement of the Indians stranded abroad, 2,300 rooms have been requisitioned and more have been identified for quarantine in Delhi.

"Districts and other agencies are working tirelessly to cater to the increasing demands for quarantine centres and Covid care Centres. Government buildings, DUSIB flats, school buildings and hotels have requisitioned to be used for quarantine and COVID care. Twenty Covid care centres have been set up in Delhi with the capacity of 5,949 people."

To revive economic activities, the government authorized the DMs to issue e-passes in a rational manner for seamless movement of essential goods and services and facilitate e-commerce operators.

"Industrial estates are allowed to open as per directions of the Centre, they are being facilitated. Other activities including in-situ construction activities, standalone shops and work by the self-employed have also started."

The Lt. Governor directed the DDMA to ensure screening of stranded people moving out of or entering the national capital from other states strictly as per the SOP.

"Central government be requested for more trains as per requirement. He (the LG) also instructed formation of dedicated teams comprising doctors, nurses, nodal officers and pharmacists for screening people with all the necessary equipment," the Raj Niwas added.
