Thiruvananthapuram, May 8 (SocialNews.XYZ) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday announced that after a two-day gap, the state recorded its first coronavirus case - a man in Ernakulam who had come from Chennai and was also a kidney patient.
The state had recorded a total of 503 cases, of which 16 are currently under treatment.
The Chief Minister also said that a total of 19,810 people are under observation at their homes while 347 others have been kept under observation at different hospitals across the state.
"Today is the 100th day that the first case in India was registered at Thrissur. It was on March first week that the second wave started in Kerala. Two months later, we can say we have flattened the curve. The need of the hour is we should see that a third wave should not happen. In case it happens, we are fully prepared to handle it. No complacency should set in and we should be more careful now," said Vijayan.
"Flights have now started to come and we should provide all support to them. Yesterday, two flights came and today also, there are flights. Those who are directed to be in home quarantine have to strictly abide by it," he added.
He emphasised that quarantine camps are different from camps that come up when floods happen.
"All security arrangements are being taken at camps. Everything has to be adhered to by the inmates. All the facilities are also there. If there are any shortcomings, it will be made up if brought before the authorities," Vijayan said.
As of Friday, there are 33 hotspots in the state, while seven districts of the 14 are Covid-19 free.
