Accra (Ghana), May 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the 2019/20 football season remains suspended until June due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The season has, since March 16, been suspended until further notice following government's ban on all public gatherings.
In a media statement, GFA said the it's executive council, at its meeting on Tuesday, decided that the status quo remains.
It said the executive council further decided that the association will continue to monitor the situation and would revisit it on June 30, after a careful assessment and evaluation of the issue and to take further decisions.
"The GFA will consider all the factors at the time and take all the necessary decisions to ensure the safety of all participants and the smooth completion of the season."
The Ghana Premier League was at its match week 15 stage when it came to a halt, with Aduana Stars leading the standings.
More than 2,700 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported in Ghana while many people have lost their lives.
Globally, over 2.5 lakh people have lost their lives lost due to COVID-19.
