Delhi govt brings back 480 students from Kota

New Delhi, May 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi government on Sunday brought back at least 480 students from Kota in Rajasthan who were stuck due to the sudden announcement of the lockdown.

Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said 40 buses were sent to bring back students stuck in Kota.

"After the medical check-up, the students were sent to their respective homes in the DTC buses," the Minister said.

The Transport Minister requested all the students to stay in home-isolation for 14 days to ensure the safety of their family members.

Due to the sudden announcement of the lockdown in March, various students of Delhi studying in institutes at Kota in Rajasthan were stuck there.

After the approval from the Centre for the movement of the students and migrants stuck away from home, the Delhi government sent 40 buses on May 1 to bring back its students from Kota.

On May 2, around 2 p.m. these buses reached Kota, the Minister said.

"Yesterday, around 8 p.m. these 480 students started their journey from Kota towards Delhi and reached ISBT Kashmiri Gate on Sunday in early morning."

While arrangements were made by the government to bring 813 students, the Transport Department said only 480 students who belong to Delhi were brought back.

"Remaining students were reported to belong to other places," the Transport Department said.

At ISBT Kashmiri Gate, 11 counters were made for Districts of Delhi where every student was properly screened for COVID-19 by 11 separate medical teams consisting of a doctor and paramedic.

"Also, in front of every district-wise counter, 100 circles were drawn at a distance of 6 feet so that during screening the social distancing norms can be followed properly," the Transport Department added.

After the medical screening, every student was given a coupon indicating the DTC bus number dedicated to their specific route, it said.

"The parents were asked to not come to the ISBT as the government made proper arrangements through these DTC buses to make sure that every student reaches their respective homes safely."

Kota is famous for its coaching institutes for engineering and medical entrance exams. It is also called "Education City of India". Students from across the country went to the town for coaching and were stuck there due to lockdown.
