Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana becomes World's most watched show, breaks all records

Some pieces of art are immortal. Whenever you see them, you always gain from them and one such piece of art is Ramanand Sagar's popular TV show Ramayana. Post the country went in for a lockdown, the show started re airing on Doordarshan and now it has broken all previous records and has become world's most watched show.

The official page of Doordarshan National shared the good news with the people of the country and wrote, "WORLD RECORD!! Rebroadcast of #Ramayana on #Doordarshan smashes viewership records worldwide, the show becomes most watched entertainment show in the world with 7.7 crore viewers on 16th of April."

Based on Valmiki's Ramayana and Tulsidas' Ramcharitmanas, the show has a total of 78 episodes. The show is re airing from 28th of March, 2020 and since then it has attracted more and more viewership each day. Each day two episodes of the show are being aired, one in the morning 9am-10am and the other in the evening 9pm-10pm.

The show which was originally aired in the year 1987 and ran till 1988, broke all records of popularity that time. The actors who were casted in the show then became so popular that people used to worship them as Lord Ram and Sita. Everyone used to get glued to their television sets every Sunday at 9: 30 am and the history gets repeated now as people are still glued to watch the show every day.

As the show sets a milestone by becoming world's most watched show ever, this is a moment of pride for all of us!
