J&K state vigilance commission wound up

Jammu, May 1 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Union Territory government has wound up the J&K vigilance commission after repealing the State Vigilance Act, 2011 using powers under the Jammu and Kashmir reorganisation (adaptation of state laws) order, 2020.

The government had already cut short the terms of office of the chief vigilance commissioner and two vigilance commissioners of the commission which has now been officially wound up.

Subsequent upon the winding up of the vigilance commission, the government has ordered that the staff drawn for the commission from various departments shall report back to the concerned departments.

All the records of the wound up commission are to be handed over to the Director of UTs Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

In layman terms, it means that the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) of the country will have direct jurisdiction over the matters concerning the ACB and will also have supervisory jurisdiction over matters pertaining to complaints not satisfactorily addressed at the union territory level.
