New Delhi, April 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Budget passenger carrier SpiceJet has operated its maiden freighter flight service carrying around eight tonnes of critical medical essentials from Hyderabad to Kuala Lumpur.
Accordingly, the airline deployed its Boeing 737 freighter aircraft for the assignment which reached Kuala Lumpur early Wednesday morning.
"With the addition of Kuala Lumpur to our international cargo network, SpiceJet is now operating regularly to over fifteen international destinations carrying essential and medical supplies," Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, SpiceJet said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Securing the supply chain is extremely important in these unpredictable times and we are glad that we have been able to maintain the mobility of vital supplies with ease, both domestically and internationally."
Till date, SpiceJet has transported over 4650 tonnes of essential supplies and medical equipment on more than 635 flights since the nationwide lockdown began.
Of the 635 flights operated, 228 were international cargo flights.
The airline has operated special cargo flights to and from Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh city, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Bangkok, Colombo, Dubai, Kabul, Myanmar, Sharjah, Male, Kuala Lumpur, Ukraine and a host of other places.
