Mental health of kids key feature of our e-training module: LaLiga

By Debayan Mukherjee

Kolkata, April 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) Besides providing children an hour of active e-training session with a coach, LaLiga Football Schools is also advising over 1500 enrolled kids on ways and means to stay healthy and happy throughout the day in a bid to take care of their mental health, during a prolonged period of lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Definitely it is not easy for the kids to be away from playing outside and interact with their friends, and for sure they will have days when they will feel a bit down, but children are creative and always find a way to have fun," Javier Cabrera, Technical Director, LaLiga Football School India, told IANS.

"That is our main objective, not only giving them one hour of active training session with a coach, but also giving them some advice on what to do the rest of the day in order to keep them healthy and happy," he said.

On addressing the mental health part of kids during this period where they are confined to their homes all the time, Cabrera said: "We have created a specific technical program for our students that takes care, not only of their mental health, but also of others main aspects like nutrition and healthy habits, everything is connected.

"In order to keep ourselves mentally healthy during this lockdown, we need to be physically active at home. That is what we promote through our technical program, we develop sessions that covers from coordination and agility exercises to with-ball technical skills.

"We even have tactical video sessions or different quiz games for our students to enjoy while learning more about LaLiga."

LaLiga's grassroots football development program in India, LaLiga Football Schools, is providing e-training to kids. LaLiga along with 'India On Track' is organising 60 sessions a week and kids from eight cities across India are taking part.

This initiative is part of the global project taken up by LaLiga Sports Projects Department called LaLiga at Home.

"Till now it?s been a huge success. We are having 60 e-training classes per week in different cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Chandigarh, Surat or Bangalore amongst others.

"Our coaches and operation teams are doing a fantastic job. We will be creating new batches in the next weeks due to the great feedback we are getting from both students and parents. We are also starting www.llfsathome.com, a new e-program, open to every child in the country," he further said.

Asked about the global response, he added: "We are getting a similar response about our e-training program all around the world. We coordinate our work with LaLiga Sports Project department in Spain, and we make sure that we design our program carefully in order to keep the quality in all our training sessions."
