Kerala reports 4 new cases; 123 under treatment

Thiruvananthapuram, April 28 (SocialNews.XYZ) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Tuesday that four more persons have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the state, taking the total number of people presently undergoing treatment to 123.

In all, Kerala has reported 485 Covid-19 cases so far.

"A total of 20,255 people are under observation at their homes while 518 others have been kept under observation at different hospitals across the state," said Vijayan.

Six districts -- Kannur, Kozhikode, Kasargode, Malappuram, Kottayam and Idukki are in the red zone. All the remaining eight districts are under orange zone.

"In the light of happenings of sudden increase in cases in Kottayam and Idukki, the lockdown decision on May 3 will be taken considering all factors. Along with this other issues on the setbacks in the various sectors of the economy also have to be evaluated. We will initiate talks with experts to recharge the economy. The various department secretaries have been asked to prepare an action plan. The State Planning Board is also in the process of working out a detailed plan," said Vijayan.

He said wearing a mask has to be made a habit and that practise is yet to catch up.

"This has to be used in schools, markets and wherever people gather and masks have to be worn compulsorily. Getting back our people who are presently stuck in the various states of the country is being worked out. We will cooperate with other states also in this regard," added Vijayan.
