New Delhi, April 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Indian Railways has started production at Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala to meet the demand for parcel coaches required to ensure supply of essential items during the lockdown across the country.
A Railway Ministry spokesperson said the RCF, Kapurthala, had restarted production on April 23 after 28 days. The factory has been opened adhering to all safety precautions and guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the local administration.
He said 3,744 employees, residing at the RCF premises, had been permitted to join the work. Other Indian Railways units would resume production as and when advised, he added.
Despite the limited availability of resources, in two days the RCF Kapurthala had built two coaches, he said.
The official said one LHB high capacity parcel van and one luggage cum generator car were built.
Workers were being called in three shifts having different timings and all employees who joined the duty after lockdown had been issued a safety kit, comprising masks, sanitizer bottle and soap.
