New Delhi, April 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) Even as the country is under a lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, a large number of people could be seen moving around in the markets of Lal Kuan area in Old Delhi on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Many of these people were moving around and doing shopping in the area without the mandatory face masks and without observing the social distancing norms.
The Lal Kuan market behind the Fatehpuri Masjid in Chandni Chowk was bustling with shoppers who were busy buying ration, milk, fruits, general provisions etc. Women were among those moving around in what seemed to be any normal day.
An area resident Shamshad remarked: "We ourselves are quite surprised over the crowd. People are moving around in markets and coming out of their houses as they did during normal times."
Another resident Devendra Tak said: "Despite the presence of police and other security personnel in the area, the main road and lanes and bylanes are full of people. No one has asked the shopkeepers to down their shutters nor asked people to remain indoors."
The whole of Delhi is under a lockdown, with 92 of its localities declared coronavirus hotspots, including Chandni Mahal and Jama Masjid areas.
