Ranchi, April 21 (SocialNews.XYZ) The banking correspondent of Sakhi Mandal associated with Jharkhand State Gramin Bank, Jayanti Kumar Vishwas, says that a transaction of about Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh is done daily. In this phase, more than 600 people have withdrawn money under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana and more people are constantly coming for banking facilities. I take full care of social distancing and hand-washing and also make people aware of it, she added.
She is satisfied with providing pension to "mothers" and "brothers" at their doorstep along with money for the welfare of the people.
Jayanti is the only hope of people for banking work in Bipatpur village in Hiranpur block of Pakur, about 400 km from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.
A total of 1,463 'Banking Correspondent' Sakhis like Jayanti are working in the remote villages of Jharkhand to provide banking services to the people there. These women are providing pension, cash, withdrawals and other banking facilities to the needy rural people.
Women of Sakhi Mandal are working as 'Corona Warriors' in the rural blocks of Jharkhand. Whether in the preparation of masks and sanitizers in collaboration with the district administration or the operation of the Chief Minister Didi Kitchen, the speed of relief and awareness in the state with the active participation of Sakhi Mandal has remained constant.
Banking Correspondent Sakhi (B.C. Sakhi), constituted under the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), is providing accessible and secure banking services even in such difficult times in the rural areas.
Gayatri Devi of Jaipur village in Rania block of Khunti district adjoining Ranchi is working as B.C. Sakhi. With the help of Devi, the people of her village are able to easily avail banking services, even after a complete stoppage of traffic due to the lockdown. After the lockdown, Devi has so far provided banking services to 772 villagers.
JSLPS Chief Executive Officer Rajiv Kumar told IANS that after March 23, over 4.34 lakh people have availed of banking services through B.C. Sakhi from their villages or panchayats. Apart from this, the Jan Dhan account-holders are also able to withdraw the money received under the Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana.
70-year-old Pa Kandulna of Jaipur Dartoli village in Rania district could withdraw her three months' pension that she received in her Jan Dhan account through Devi.
"I cannot walk or work properly. Hence, I get my pension through B.C. Sakhi. With help of B.C. Sakhi, I have withdrawn Rs 3,500. Now, I will not have to face problem in this difficult time," Kandulna told IANS.
Along with providing banking services to the villagers, B.C. Sakhi, as 'Corona Warrior', is also motivating and making people aware of the safety rules.
BC Sakhi Pushpa Devi of Hisri village in Ratu block of Ranchi district takes special care that the customers visiting their centre strictly follow social distancing. In addition, she also instructs people to cover their mouth and nose and wash their hands before coming to the centre.
BC Sakhi of Sakhi Mandal alone has served about 4.34 lakh people in the state. These BC Sakhi Didis have done a transaction of about Rs 63 crore in rural areas.
