Covid-19: DSGMC lodges 200 doctors, healthcare staff at Delhi gurdwaras

New Delhi, April 20 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has made arragements to lodge over 200 doctors and other medical staff at gurdwaras across the city following requests from various hospitals.

A senior DSGMC functionary told IANS: "We have arranged for over 200 beddings for the doctors and other healthcare staff at our gurdwaras."

The DSGMC member said that the decision to provide food and lodging to the healthcare personnel was taken in view of their service to the nation in these testing times amid the novel coronavirus scare.

He said the healthcare teams have been lodged at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Gurdwara Rakab Ganj and others, on requests from AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Safdarjung Hospital, and another hospital in the Connaught Place area.

Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in central Delhi area is being lit up to show solidarity with healthcare workers and everyone else on the frontline of the battle against Covid-19 in India.

The DSGMC is also providing food to the needy at its various community kitchens.

The DSGMC appealed to citizens and corporate houses to donate money or grocery items for the poor and marginalised at any nearest gurdwara to enable distribution of food and other essentials to the needy.

On Monday, the total coronavirus patients in India rose to 17,656, with 559 deaths. Delhi has recorded 2,003 cases so far, with 45 deaths.
