India series gave insight to O’Keefe on Test cricket

Sydney, April 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Steve OKeefe might have retired from the game, but the Australia spinner will forever be remembered for spinning a web over Virat Kohlis Indian team in the Pune Test which they ultimately won to take a 1-0 lead in the series. But for OKeefe, it was an experience of a lifetime and one he cherishes the most.

"Being able to play those four Tests in India gave me a new perspective on the game, to play four matches back-to-back and look at the game through a different lens," O'Keefe told cricket.com.au.

"I'm being honest about that Test series against India. I didn't get better as the series went on. They (Indian batsmen) evolved and got better at facing me, and I think that was the true challenge," he said.

"It gave me an insight into 'you have to be better than what you were if you want to win series against those guys'."

The former cricketer added that it did give him a new lesson on playing the oldest format of the game. "Test cricket is not necessarily about playing well once, it's about doing it consistently over three or four games," he said.

While India did win the rubber 2-1, the series will be remembered for the 'brain fade' moment when the Indian players claimed that Australia skipper Steve Smith had looked at the dressing room to call for a DRS. In fact, India skipper Virat Kohli had famously said at the press conference that he wouldn't call a few Aussies his friends anymore.
