UAN or the Universal account number is a unique identification number provided by the Employees provident fund organisation to all the members. You need to have this unique number while having a PF or provident fund account.
Suppose you are working in an organisation having access to your Provident fund with your own PF account, now you want to change your company for instance , if you do not have this mandatory UAN you may need to withdraw the amount of provident fund from the bank but in case you have this UAN number you can simply share this number with your employer and can link your PF account with this new company also.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (“EPFO”), vide a notification dated 21st November 2017, has introduced direct allotment of Universal Account Number (“UAN”) to any citizen (prospective employee) at the unified portal through which such employee can generate his/her UAN on the basis of Aadhar. The EPFO website can be used for both Employer and the employee for the hassle free services.
UAN has provided an open functionality in an common portal through which any citizen (prospective employee) can generate based on Aadhaar .
It will be generated on the basis of details of citizen which are fetched by the system from Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)
Prospective Employee can log in using their member ID allotted by visiting the Website and log in using the Member ID given by the Employer.
There are ways to activate the UAN Login online, by mobile app or sms
UAN activation is mandatory without with No employee can use any service provided on UAN service portal.
Follow the steps given below for UAN login web portal.
- Open the Official Web Portal of UAN
- Click on Activate PAN in log in Block.
- Put all the KYC details, make your photograph handy.
- An OTP will the be sent to your registered mobile number, all your details will be fetched from the Aadhaar card connected with your UAN.
After that provide your Email ID and click on activate account number. A message will be sent to your mobile number with UAN activation successful and log in credentials will be send to the mobile number.
