New Delhi, April 5 (SocialNews.XYZ) The national capital continues to enjoy a better quality of air with the AQI recorded under the 'satisfactory' category at 82.
According to SAFAR, while there is 63 per cent reduction in nitrogen oxides in the city, PM 2.5 has reduced by 49 per cent due to lockdown which has been imposed as a containment measure to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
The country is under a lockdown till April 14 and all non-essential movement is barred.
Since the lockdown was imposed, the city has been witnessing an improvement in the AQI, which usually stays in 'poor' or 'very poor' category.
SAFAR said Ozone concentration has increased compared to its normal values and is one of the lead pollutants as no more titration reaction is active due to reduced NO2.
"Ozone is likely to remain lead pollutant during next few days. Strong surface winds are forecast for the next two days... This forecast now considers an estimated reduction in local emissions due to lockdown," it says.
According to the IMD, the sky will remain partly cloudy with the possibility of development of thunder and lightning.
Temperature during the day will range between 17 and 34 degrees Celsius.
