Jaipur, April 3 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a bid to contain the coronavirus spread, a "maha (mega) curfew" has been enforced in Rajasthan's Bhilwara from Friday till April 13, District Collector Rajendra Bhatt said.

Speaking to IANS, he said: "A total of 3,000 jawans from police and RAC are patrolling the street to ensure zero mobility in the city. Women police and other young personnel on 50 motorbikes with sirens are patrollin lanes and bylands to make sure no one even in narrowest of streets comes out during this period."

"We delivered essential commodities at every doorstep till Thursday. Still milk booths are open and are supplying at home with the help of administration," he added.

Bhilwara faced the threat of community spread of coronavirus after an infected doctor passed on the infection to his patients, staff and family contacts. Eventually, the corona cases rose to 26 in a short time, making it the corona hotspot of the state.

However, till Friday, 17 of the 26 cases reported negative, said Additional Chief Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh.

As many as 1,847 samples have been tested in the state till date, of which 1,515 are negative and 26 positive. However, results of 306 samples are awaited, he added.

Two residents of Bhilwara died after testing corona positive. Three such deaths have been reported in Rajasthan so far.

While one of the deceased was a 60-year-old patient initially treated in a private hospital and then shifted to Bangar Hospital on March 7, where 19 persons have already got the infection, majority of them healthcare staff.
