India’s domestic air passenger traffic up 8.4% in Feb

New Delhi, April 2 (SocialNews.XYZ) India's domestic air passenger traffic grew by 8.4 per cent in February on a year-on-year basis, as per the data furnished by International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Thursday.

Accordingly, the rise in India's domestic air passenger volume -- measured in revenue passenger kilometres -- was the second fastest amongst major aviation markets such as Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Russia and the US.

In the period under consideration, India's domestic passenger traffic growth was followed by that of Russian Federation at 7.7 per cent.

India trailed the US's domestic growth rate of 10.1 per cent.

The country's domestic available passenger capacity -- measured in available seat kilometres (ASKs) -- rose 9.9 per cent on a YoY basis.

India's domestic air passenger volume is expected to plunge in March due to the nationwide lockdown and the scare around the spread of Covid-19.

At present, no foreign or domestic passenger flight operations are allowed, though cargo operations are still underway.
