Bhopal/Indore, March 31 (SocialNews.XYZ) From the""cleanlines"" city, Indore has turned into corona capital of Madhya Pradesh in just a week, since March 24. With 17 people testing positive on Tuesday, Indore's Covid-19 tally has jumped from 27 to 44, which is 66 per cent of MP's total cases.
Indore now ranks eighth in the country in terms of positive cases. Reports of rapid spread of cases have come from congested localities, like Rajkumar Colony, Chandan Nagarand Ranipura.
The state's tally stands at 65 and the spread confined to six cities -- Indore (44), Jabalpur (8), Bhopal (4), Ujjain (5) and Gwalior and Shivpuri (two each).
Indore may have got its patients from other parts of the Malwa-Nimar region. Indore MLA Akash Vijayvargiya has written to DIG Harinarayana Chari about excessive movement of people in these localities.
The number of coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh soared to 65, with 18 more tested positive in the state for COVID-19 on Tuesday,
According to Sapna Lowanshi, Assistant Director (Health), the state recorded the highest jump in cases on Tuesday. Five deaths have been reported so far.
BhopalChief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Sudhir Deharia said, a 25-year person who tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday had travelled to London recently. He reached Mumbai from London and went to Delhi before arriving at Indore.
He was quarantined on reaching Indore, but escaped on a bike and reached Bhopal and was admitted to a hospital there on Monday. He was shifted to AIIMS when his condition deteriorated. He tested Covid-19 positive.
Another person rushed from Neemuch to Bhopal and admitted to AIIMS on Monday night could not be saved. His coronavirus test report was awaited, said Deharia.
On Monday, a 49-year-old woman died of coronavirus in Indore, taking the total number of deaths in MP due to COVID-19 to five, which included three in Indore and two in Ujjain.
The deceased from Indore and Ujjain had no travel history or contact with overseas persons.
A three-day total lockdown is being enforced stringently in Indore and Bhopal since Tuesday. The borders with Maharashtra have been sealed, leaving hundreds of people trapped there.
Asking authorities to quarantine Tablighi Jamaat participants, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told senior officials on Tuesday to track the 107 participants of the Tablighi Marqaz congregation at Nizamuddin recently from MP and get them quarantined.
"They should be provided all healthcare," he said. Travel details of all those travelling for religious reasons should be obtained and their health be monitored, he added.
Political angle is being ascribed to the spread of coronavirus. On the first day of 'janata curfew' over a week ago hundreds of Narendra Modi supporters had thronged the iconic landmark of Rajwada with drums, trumpets, thalis and bells to make a political statement in the name of thanking the people maintaining essential services.
