Bhopal, March 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday asked his successor Shivraj Singh Chouhan why the BJP government is playing a double standard game against the coronavirus pandemic.
Chouhan, who took oath on Monday night, proved his majority by winning the trust vote in the Assembly on Tuesday.
Taking to Twitter, Nath said , "The trust vote was a formality and could have been held later. While others are being harassed for flouting the curfew norms, but the government chooses to defy them and calls a session to seek a vote. This is the first day. The government doesn't practice what it preaches."
The Rajya Sabha elections scheduled for March 26 across the country have been postponed due to COVID-19, the Election Commission announced on Tuesday.
However, in Madhya Pradesh, the irony could be underlined that despite curfew being imposed in Bhopal and Jabalpur which have together reported seven positive cases of the coronavirus and 45 districts placed under lockdown, the new Chief Minister chose to seek a trust vote on Tuesday in the absence of the Opposition after the Assembly was convened at a short notice of 12 hours.
The term of MPs Digvijaya Singh, Satyanarayana Jatiya and Prabhat Jha in Madhya Pradesh is also nearing end on April 9.
The Congress has nominated former Chief Ministers Digvijaya Singh and Phool Singh Baraiya for two seats, while the BJP has fielded former Union Ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sumer Singh. Both the parties are sure to get one seat each but the contest on the other is likely to be interesting, though according to the statistics, the other seat is also likely to go to the saffron party.
