Bhilwara will never be Italy: Rajasthan govt

Jaipur, March 24 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Rajasthan Health Department, here on Tuesday, set up a nine-member medical war room under Additional Chief Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh to spearhead the fight against the Covid-19 health emergency in the state, following 17 cosronavirus suspects testing positive in Bhilwara and Jhunjhunu in the past two days.

Urging people not to panic, the Additional Chief Secretary termed as baseless the rumour that Bhilwara had turned into Italy.

Bhilwara and Jhunjhunu districts have emerged the most sensitive places in Rajasthan. While 13 confirmed cases were reported from Bhilwara on Sunday and Monday, four were reported from Jhunjhunu, making these two districts witness the most aggressive screening operations.

Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma said 13 patients who tested positive had been quarantined, "The situation remains under control due to acute alertness of our the state health department," he remarked.

In March 19-24, around 70,000 families have been screened and over 300,000 people have been surveyed in Bhilwara.

"On March 19, we received information that a few suspected cases have been reported in Bhilwara. Without delay, we sent over 300 members of the rapid response team. Intense surveying is on in this business town since then," said the Minister.

The Additional Health Secretary said 263 samples had been tested and 38 Covid-19 patients were in isolation in Bhilwara. The houses of 13 confirmed positive cases had been disinfected and samples of 137 people who came in contact with them were being collected, he added.

Curfew continues in Bhilwara to check the spread of community spread in the district, boundaries of the district have been sealed, control rooms have been set up at tehsil and district level and residents have been asked to inform if any resident, guest comes from foreign nation to this town, said Sharma.

In Jhunujhunu, 61 samples were collected till Tuesday. Of this, four tested positive and 43 negative. According to a comprehensive survey, the Covid-19 patients visited 739 houses, and hence 4,844 people had been screened, he said.

The medical war room included Naveen Jain, Managing Director of the state road transport corporation; Narednra Kumar Gupta, Managing Director of the Jaipur City Transport Services; and Virendra Singh, Special Secretary (IT & Communication).
