Chandigarh, March 22 (SocialNews.XYZ) Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Saturday that essential services like grocery and chemist shops will be open during the 'Janata Curfew' on Sunday and there is no shortage of essential commodities in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on Thursday urged the nation to follow Janata Curfew on Sunday and stay indoors to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Khattar urged the people not to panic and strongly adhere to the appeal of the Prime Minister and stay indoors to prevent the coronavirus epidemic from spreading.
The Chief Minister gave these directions while presiding over a review meeting with all Deputy Commissioners, District Food and Supplies Controllers, grocery wholesalers, retailers and vendors through video conferencing.
He directed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that no there is unnecessary hike in wholesale and grocery rates of essential commodities. Also, steps should be taken to stop profiteering and hoarding, he said.
Khattar also issued directives to discourage panic buying so that people do not buy excess consumerable items.
The Chief Minister said the state would ensure that there is no obstruction in the supply and transportation of essential commodities.
All the Deputy Commissioners, if necessary, have been asked to take action in their districts to close establishments which are not connected with essential goods and services.
