Man remanded to 10-day police custody in J&K DSP case
New Delhi, March 19 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Patiala House Court, here on Thursday, remanded a person to the 10-day police custody in connection with a case pertaining to suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Davinder Singh, who was arrested while ferrying two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists in a vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway, earlier this year.

Imran Shafi Mir was arrested during the day and produced before Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana, who remanded him to the police custody.

According to sources, Singh and another accused, named Javed Iqbal, had divulged his name to the police during interrogation. "The accused frequently travelled in and out of Pakistan," the source said.

Singh was nabbed on January 11 while transporting two militants -- Naveed Babu alias Babar Azam, his associate Asif Ahmad and a civilian Irfan Ahmad Mir -- to Chandigarh.

Police sources said the two terrorists and their accomplice planned to travel to Pakistan after reaching Jammu. After Davinder's arrest by the J&K Police, several raids were conducted at his residence in Srinagar.

After the initial police investigations, the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The officer was posted with the anti-hijacking wing of J&K Police in Srinagar.

Singh's name first figured in the grey zone after Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru levelled serious allegations against him during the trial. He had also won prestigious Gallantry Medal for anti-militancy duties.
