British actor Idris Elba has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (Covid-19). The actor took to his social media profile and shared with his fans that he has tested positive for the virus that has infected more than 150,000 people across the globe.
In his tweet, Idris Elba said, "This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I'm doing. No panic."
Elba is the latest in a line of celebrities who have tested positive for Covid-19. American actor Tom Hanks was the first to announce that he has been infected with the novel coronavirus. At present, Hanks is self-isolating along with his wife Rita Wilson in Australia.
Elba is known for his roles in movies like American Gangster, Thor, and Avengers series. He also starred in Beasts of No Nation, for which he received BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actor, and Molly's Game.
In addition to his acting work, Elba performs as a DJ under the moniker DJ Big Driis (or Big Driis the Londoner) and as an R&B musician. In 2016, he was named in the Time 100 list of the Most Influential People in the World.
