Prof K Nageshwar: Oil Duties hiked (Video)

         ప్రపంచ చమురు ధరలు తగ్గితే 39000 వేల కోట్ల లాభం, మనకు రావాల్సింది కేంద్రం తీసుకుంది|| Duties hiked on Petrol and Diesel ||

Strangely, excise duty on petrol and diesel was hiked by Rs 3 per litre. The special excise duty on petrol has been hiked by Rs 2 to Rs 8 per litre in case of petrol and to Rs 4 in case of diesel. For every litre of petrol the excise duty is Rs. 22.98 and on diesel it is 18.83. Simultaneously, the road cess on petrol has also been raised by Rs 1 per litre each on petrol and diesel to Rs 10. This is an attempt to mop up gains arising from fall in international oil prices. The increase in excise duty will result in annual increase of government revenues by about Rs 39,000 crore.
Thus, Petrol and diesel prices, which are changed on a daily basis, were cut by 13 paise and 16 paise respectively as oil companies adjusted the excise duty hike against the drop in prices that warrants from international rates slumping the most since the Gulf war.
The tax on petrol was Rs 9.48 per litre when the Narendra Modi government took office in 2014 and that on diesel was Rs 3.56 a litre.
When international crude oil prices are falling sharply, the Narendra Modi government, as is its wont, has increased the excise duty on petrol and diesel. This is assault on people already suffering under economic recession.
