Bhopal, March 14 (SocialNews.XYZ) BJP's Sumer Singh Solanki's candidature for the Rajya Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh is likely to go through after his resignation from the post of assistant professor was accepted by the state government on Saturday.
Solanki had filed a petition in the court for acceptance of his resignation.
Solanki's name in the list of Rajya Sabha candidates surprised many and it was later known that he was chosen on the recommendation of the RSS.
Solanki tendered his resignation from the post of assistant professor from a college in Barwani to contest the second seat of the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.
By nominating Solanki, and the BJP's latest entrant Jyotiraditya Scindia, the party is denying another term to senior leaders like Satyanarayan Jatiya, a veteran politician, and Prabhat Jha, a two-term Rajya Sabha member and vice president of the BJP.
Ranjana Baghel, a former state minister who also filed her nomination along with Solanki and Scindia, is likely to withdraw her candidature as there are only three Rajya Sabha seats vacant in Madhya Pradesh for which there are as many as six candidates in the fray.
Polling will be held on March 26. March 13 was the deadline for filing nominations.
