Bengaluru, March 13 (SocialNews.XYZ) In a dramatic development amid suspense and drama, all 19 rebel Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs stayed back here, as their chartered flight from Bengaluru was "cancelled" on late Friday evening, a party official said.
"Our party's Madhya Pradesh legislators returned to the resort from the airport after a chartered flight in which they were to fly to Bhopal was first delayed and cancelled later for some unknown reason," party's Karnataka unit spokesman Ravi Gowda told IANS here.
Earlier in the evening, a party source told IANS that the rebels left for Bhopal by chartered aircraft from the city airport after staying at the resort (Prestige Golfshire) in the city's northern outskirts since they checked in on Monday night (March 9).
"The MLAs were stranded at the airport for more than three hours late in the evening and driven back to the resort under police escort. They were not allowed to board the aircraft, which was not given permission to take-off on the runway," Gowda said.
The Congress has also accused the ruling BJP in the southern state of holding back its lawmakers, ostensibly, to make them meet its national president J.P. Nadda, who arrived in the city on Friday night.
"We learnt that the state BJP leaders have arranged a meeting between our MP legislators and Nadda on Saturday in the city," alleged Gowda.
"The legislators were to fly to Bhopal, probably, in response to summons by their assembly speaker (Narmada Prasad Prajapati) to meet him on Friday to ascertain if they resigned from their assembly seats voluntarily or under coercion," the source hinted.
The rebel lawmakers sent their resignation letters in Hindi to the Speaker on Wednesday through an emissary.
