Following safety measures for COVID-19, PVR shut down till the 31st March'2020 in the state of Kerala, Delhi and UT of J&K.
After WHO announced Corona outbreak as pandemic, various safety measures are being adopted to avoid public gathering. The spread of the virus has already wrecked havoc on the public health, business and travel sectors and now the Entertainment sector too. PVR released an official statement on 12th March, 2020 that it would follow Government Advisory issued and will be shut in the state of Kerala, Delhi and UT of J&K till the 31st March,2020.
The official statement from PVR read, “Government Advisory on Multiplex Shut Down till 31st March'20 in the state of Kerala, Delhi and UT of J&K - This is with reference to advisory issued by the states of Kerala, Delhi and UT of Jammu and Kashmir to shut down all cinema halls till 31st March, 2020 as a precautionary and preventive measure to prevent spread of COVID-19.
All of us at PVR have utmost concern for the saftey and wellbeing of each of our guests, and in the same context, we fully respect the decision of respective state governments and UT Administration.
We believe that this is a temporary situation and remain buoyant about the film business in India, and our own growth prospects. We also look forward to continuing to serve our guests in the States of Kerala, Delhi and UT of Jammu and offering them a world class movie going experience 1st April, 2020 onwards.”
Bollywood industry has also started to get hit with the outbreak of Corona. Rohit Shetty's film Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif which was scheduled to get released on 24th March has been delayed. The makers released the official statement on 12th March stating that the film will be released when the time is right.
