nCoV: Amid no positive cases, rising home quarantine in K'taka

Bengaluru, March 7 (SocialNews.XYZ) Amid rising home quarantine cases in Karnataka to 525, the state has recorded no Coronavirus positive case as of mid-day on Saturday, an official said.

"Until 12 p.m. on Saturday, there is no positive Coronavirus case in the state. We are observing 525 people on home quarantine," state Health Department's Information Education and Communication (IEC) Special Officer Suresh Shastri told IANS.

 

Interestingly, every new day is seeing rising home quarantine cases, which jumped from 469 on Friday to 525 on Saturday.

Similarly, number of cases being observed in hospital rose by a person to nine by Saturday.

"To date, 400 samples of symptomatic people were sent for testing and 326 samples were reported as negative and remaining 74 samples results awaited," said an official state health department statement.

Across the state, 77,469 passengers have been thermal-screened for the virus till now at Kempegowda International Airport in the city and Mangaluru International Airport.

Another 5,214 passengers were also checked for the virus at Karwar and Mangaluru seaports.

On Saturday, 15 people completed the mandatory 28-day observation period while a total of 251 people also underwent the same.

On Friday, a sensitization training programme was conducted for doctors, designated hospitals and district surveillance officers in Bengaluru Urban and rural districts.

The state government is deploying post graduate medical students for surveillance at the airport and hospitals.

Karnataka government has also issued a circular to all districts to avoid mass gatherings in view of the prevailing Coronavirus situation.

Gulbarga Institute of Medical Sciences, Gulbarga and Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences have also been tasked to collect samples for testing.

Chief Secretary T.M. Vijay Bhaskar chaired a meeting on Coronavirus with all the 30 districts deputy commissioners.
