New Delhi, Feb 29 (SocialNews.XYZ) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Saturday took suo motu cognizance of violence in Delhi and specifically in north-east district, as reported in the media, and directed its Director General (Investigation) to depute two fact finding teams to conduct spot inquiry into allegations of human rights violation due to these incidents.
A statement issued by NHRC said, "In order to ensure the safety of its officers in view of the incidents of cross firing during the violent clashes, the Commission thought it would be appropriate to send them for enquiry when the situation was under little control. The teams will visit the northeast district police control room, meet affected people and the families of those who lost life in the violence."
The deployment of security forces remained in large numbers carrying out flag marches in riot-affected areas. However, shops remained closed in the areas.
The Delhi government on Saturday started the relief disbursement process for the people affected by the violence in north-east district, where the toll in the clashes is over 40, official sources said.
A special team of the Delhi Government visited the badly hit Shiv Vihar area of the district to chart out a road map for providing relief to the victims. In addition to this, many special officers have been sent to other areas for disbursement of relief.
The Delhi government will be giving compensation to those people whose shops, houses and vehicles were torched by miscreants, for rehabilitation and rebuilding their houses and shops.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, "Those people whose houses have been badly damaged in the violence will be given a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each."
