Chandigarh, Feb 27 (SocialNews.XYZ) Punjab's overall fiscal liabilities were Rs 1,95,152 crore as on March 2018. The liabilities were 41.41 per cent of GSDP and 368.14 per cent of the revenue receipts, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) said on Thursday.
The total public debt increased 109.49 per cent from Rs 78,669 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 1,64,803 crore in 2017-18.
The ratio of interest payments to revenue receipts increased from 18 to 25 per cent during 2013-18, said the CAG in its report tabled in the Assembly.
The percentage of debt repayments to debt receipts increased to 76.02 per cent in 2017-18 from 69.11 per cent in 2013-14.
The availability of net debt to the state increased from Rs 1,275 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 41,462 crore in 2016-17. However, net debt in 2017-18 was negative at Rs 2,263 crore.
According to the CAG, the revenue deficit increased to Rs 9,455 crore (2.01 per cent of GSDP) in the current year from Rs 6,537 crore (1.97 per cent of GSDP) in 2013-14.
There was a steep decrease of Rs 34,577 crore (73 per cent) in fiscal deficit during the current year over the previous year.
However, there was primary surplus of Rs 2,840 crore (0.60 per cent of GSDP) during the current year.
