SCBA concerned over Delhi’s ‘deteriorating’ law and order

New Delhi, Feb 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Wednesday expressed its concern on the law and order situation prevailing in Delhi due to the violence in northeast Delhi over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"The Supreme Court Bar Association expresses concern about the law and order situation prevailing in Delhi and also about the well-being of citizens, their lives and their properties," it said.

It also passed a resolution to take appropriate measures before the court to bring immediate normalcy in Delhi and hold the authorities concerned accountable for their failure.

Widespread violence has spread across Gokulpuri, Jafrabad, Maujpur, Seelampur, and Chand Bagh among other areas in the northeast Delhi. The violence has left 22 people dead and nearly 200 have been injured.

"SCBA has taken note of reports of large scale violence resulting in avoidable death of innocent citizens and serious destruction/damage of properties," said the lawyers' body.

Saying as it is a body designed to protect and uphold the rule of law in every form, it "also takes note of the reports in the media about the failure of the law and order machinery in this regard" and "resolves and authorises the President and the Secretary to take appropriate action on this matter".

Senior advocate Dushyant Dave is the President and advocate Ashok Arora the Secretary of the SCBA.
