New Delhi, Feb 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday passed a slew of directions to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) with regard to changes in board examination centres in the violence hit areas of North-East Delhi.
A Bench of Justice Rajiv Shakdar was hearing a petition seeking a direction to change the examination centre for students undertaking Class X and XII CBSE examination.
"Since the situation in the aforementioned district has worsened since yesterday evening, steps are required to be taken by CBSE not only with regard to postponement of the examinations, but also to find alternate ways and means for holding the examinations," Justice Rajiv Shakder said.
The court added, "While rescheduling the examinations, CBSE will have to bear in mind the fact that the students of Class XII have to sit for entrance examinations and seek admissions in universities/colleges across the country."
Amit Bansal, who appeared for CBSE, will place a plan with regard to the same before the court on February 28.
"All concerned in the CBSE, the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, as well as the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, will assist in the implementation of the directions issued by this Court," the court stated.
The petition, filed by Bhai Parmanand Vidya Mandir and kin of students, stated that it is "absolutely impossible to even think of approaching the examination centre, much less reaching there in time to take the exams."
"The situation is so grim and precarious that the students had to rush outside the school from the back gate and a girl child reported her horrible experience of having been stalked and chased by an armed mob," the plea stated.
Several parts of North-East Delhi have been wracked by violence over the past few days. Supporters and opponents of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act have been clashing since Saturday night. A total of 27 people have lost their lives in the violence so far.
