New Delhi, Feb 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) BCCI Ombudsman and Ethics Officer D.K. Jain, whose tenure is about to end on Saturday, has said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India officials are yet to contact him to discuss his future and clarified that he wouldn't get in touch with them for the same.
"I haven't had a word with the BCCI officials. If they want to extend the contract, they will have to contact me, I won't," Jain told IANS.
A BCCI official had earlier told IANS that the BCCI apex council members during their meeting in the national capital on February 16 had talk with regards to the ombudsman as Jain's tenure was set to be over, but it was decided that a call would be taken after holding discussions with him.
"No calls as of now on the ombudsman in this meeting. Board officials will have a word with Jain before deciding on the future course of action," the member had said.
Ever since taking over, Jain has had quite a few matters to dwell in as he was also appointed as Ethics Officer and had to adjudicate in a number of conflict of interest cases involving the likes of current BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly, NCA head Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev and V.V.S Laxman.
In Ganguly's case, Jain had made it clear to the board that the former India skipper had tractable conflict and would have to relinquish his interests and could not continue in more than one position. In the mail accessed by IANS, Jain had given Ganguly the benefit of doubt, but had also gone on to explain that he must not hold more than one position.
In fact, Jain started his tenure with the K.L. Rahul-Hardik Pandya fiasco in which the Indian players were suspended and sent back from the tour of Australia after some of their statements in a chat show created quite a stir.
Jain had directed the two players to donate a sum of Rs 1 lakh each, to widows of 10 constables in paramilitary forces who lost their lives on duty. They were also asked to pay Rs 10 lakh each in the fund created by Cricket Association for the blind, for promotion of game for the blind.
