New Delhi, Feb 25 (SocialNews.XYZ) US President Donald Trump said that the Citizenship Amendment Act did not figure in his talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Responding to a query during the media briefing on Tuesday, the last day of his two-day state visit to India, Trump said that the CAA is an internal matter of India.
"We did talk about religious freedom. Prime Minister Modi believes in religious freedom," said Trump. About the violence over the Citizenship Amendment Act in Delhi, Trump said, "I heard about it, but we did not discuss it." He added that the CAA is India's internal matter.
Several parts of northeast Delhi have been wracked by violence over the past three days, coinciding with Trump's visit to India.
Supporters and opponents of the contentious law have clashed since Saturday night. Nine people have died so far in the violence.
