Pune (Maharashtra), Feb 12 (SocialNews.XYZ) Maharashtra Higher Education Minister Uday Samant on Wednesday said that singing the National Anthem will now be compulsory in all colleges from February 19, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
The state government will soon issue a notification asking all colleges to begin their day by singing the National Anthem, as per a unanimous decision of the ministry.
Besides, the National Anthem will also be played at various events and programmes organized by colleges and universities on the lines cinema halls and multiplexes.
The latest move comes a fortnight after the Maha Vikas Aghadi government mandated all school students in the state to read the Preamble of the Indian Constitution at their daily school assemblies from January 26.
