Mumbai, Feb 11 (SocialNews.XYZ) IES VN Sule Guruji English School, Dadar rode on twin centuries by their opening batsmen to run over St. Mary's ICSE School by a massive margin of 248 runs in their under 14 boys match of Mumbai Indians Junior cricket tournament at Cross Maidan on Tuesday.
Ayush Mhatre and Rudra Sukale of VN Sule Guruji scored fluent hundreds each, to guide their team to a huge total of 320/2 in 39 overs at the MB Union pitch.
Mhatre carried his bat through the innings to end with 120 while Sukale scored 114 runs to orchestrate an opening stand that took their team past the 300 mark.
After their bowlers were taken to cleaners by Mhatre and Sukale, St. Mary's batsmen failed to put up a befitting response. They struggled before some disciplined bowling and ultimately capitulated for a paltry 72 in 24.4 overs. Mhatre was later declared 'Player of the Match' for his unbeaten knock off 118 balls.
At the Youth's Own Union pitch on the same ground, Don Bosco High School, Matunga eased past St. Aloysius High School, Nalasopara by eight wickets.
Mahadev Balla's three overs proved to be crucial in restricting the opponents as he conceded just four runs and took 2 wickets in his three overs. Balla also later took a stunning catch as St. Aloysius batsmen cut a sorry figure managing just 56 runs in 21.1 overs.
The chase proved to be a cakewalk for the Bosco boys as Naman Jhawar steered them home in just 6.3 overs with an unbeaten 31. Balla's incredible performance won him the 'Player of the Match' title.
Meanwhile, Priyansh Patel's five-wicket haul set up a comfortable nine wickets win for Fatima High School, Ghatkopar against the boys of Vibgyor High, Goregaon. Patel's player of the match performance ensured Vibgyor were shot out for 50 runs in 13.4 overs.
Shlok Khaire then helped Fatima chase a low score in just 4.2 overs with unbeaten knock of 24 after losing his opening partner Yug Waghela early.
